CANDRO YOSUA MANIK. Growth and biomass of bakau minyak seedling
(Rhizophora apiculata) under various salinity concentrations, academic
supervised by MOHAMMAD BASYUNI and LOLLIE AGUSTINA P. PUTRI.
The aim of this study to determine the growth and biomass R. apiculata
seedlings at varied concentrations of salinity. This study was conducted at
glasshouse, Department of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of
Sumatera Utara, from Agustus 2011 to January 2012. This experiment using five
treatments, namely 0%, 0.5%, 1.5%, 2% and 3% salinity, with quintuplicate
analysis. The results showed that the growth of R. apiculata seedlings under
varied salinity concentrations effected significantly comparing to the control (0%)
on seedling height, seedling diameter, number of leaves, leaf area, root dry
weight, stem dry weight, dry weight of the canopy. Seedling growth of
R. apiculata in the highest growth at 1.5% salinity is 10,5 cm, diameter at 1.5%
salinity is 5.0 cm, number of leaves on the salinity of 0.5% is 6, the leaf area on
the salinity of 0.5% is 157,8.
