Abstract

Indonesia is one of a country with vast coastal areas. Ease of access to coastal areas tends to increase the rate of utilization of coastal areas in the coming years, both in terms of utilization of economic resources and the utilization of space that caused the damage and changes in the suitability designation of mangrove ecosystems in many coastal areas. This research was conducted in March-April 2010 in the districts that include coastal areas in Serdang Bedagai. The analysis used the SWOT analysis to test acceptance criteria of 60% through in-depth interview method with the key person approach method. The results of the preparation of management strategies and development of coastal areas of mangrove ecosystems based in Serdang Bedagai as consideration changes in the allotment of land suitability.
