Mangrove Diversity studies Based on Sea Water salinity Level in Sialang Buah Village, District
Teluk Mengkudu, Serdang Bedagai. Purpose of this study was to determine the types of
mangrove contained in Sialang Buah Village and measure the diversity of mangrove species
based on different levels of salinity. The research was conducted in Sialang Buah Village,
District Teluk Mengkudu, Serdang Bedagai from March 2013 to May 2013. The study was
conducted by survey method through, analysis of vegetation, inculding number of specie, number
of individuals and the level of salinity of sea water. The sampling technique used is the method of
lines. These data were then analyzed in order to understand the density of type, frequency, basal
area, dominance, INP and Shannon-Wiener diversity index. Results showed that seven species of
mangrove, five types of true mangroves and mangrove associates two, Mangrove species
diversity tends higher salinity of sea water. The result also shows the mangrove vegetation is
dominated Rhizophora apiculata follow with Avicennia Marina both in seedlings, saplings and
