dc.description.abstractStudy the influence of the physical properties of the initial soaking, mechanical and termite resistance of particleboard from oil palm trunk waste was conducted in June 2012 until March 2013. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of early immersion (immersion hot water and cold water) to the physical properties, mechanical and termite resistance of particleboard from oil palm trunk waste and determine the effect of immersion is the best start to the quality of the particle board. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) with factorial non hot water immersion treatment (1, 2 and 3 hours) and cold water immersion ( 24, 48 and 72 hours ) and the results were compared with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 03-2105-2006 and to test weight reduction the results were compared with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 01-7202-2006. The results showed that the physical properties of particle board that meets the standards of density, moisture content, while the thickness of only 2 types of development boards, while not required water absorption and mechanical properties of particle board for only a broken modulus values (MOR) in accordance with the standards, while internal bond and modulus of elasticity (MOE) does not meet the standards and values of the resulting particle board resistance to attack by subterranean termites is very high.en_US
