SYAHRONI HASAN SIREGAR: The variation of Temperature and Time
Pressing of Physical, Mechanical and Toleration Termite Properties Particle
Board from Waste Oil Palm Trunk with Phenol Formardehida Adhesive
Supervised by RUDI HARTONO and TITO SUCIPTO.
The waste oil palm trunks is a alternative basic commodity manufacture
particleboards. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical and
mechanical properties with the influence temperature and pressing time. Boards
were made with size 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm with density of 0,70 gr/cm3
.
Particleboards using phenol formaldehida adhesive 8%, press 25kg/cm2
and
experiments were analyzed by factorial with completely randomized design in 3
temperatures (160, 170 and 180)ºC and 4 pressing times (5, 7, 9, and 11) minutes.
Particleboard was tested for density, moisture content, water absorption,
thickness swelling, modulus of rupture, compression strength parallel to the
surface and internal bond. This result in comparison with SNI 03-2105-2006.
Result showed that the value of density, moisture content and internal bond had
completed the standard, while thickness swelling and MOR value on some
treatment had met standard and the value of MOE did not complete the standard.
Optimal condition was attained by combination of pressing temperature of 180ºC
and pressing time of 5, 7, 9, 11 minute.
