RAHMAWATY and ABDUL RAUF
Evaluation of land use changes was conducted at DAS Babalan. The
research was conducted since July 2012 until December 2012. The purpose of this
research are to assess changes in forest land into oil palm land, mapping land
suitability classes for palm oil and to know the quality of forest land and land oil
palm. Method to assess changes in the land area is done by utilizing remote
sensing and geographic information systems (GIS). assessing the changes was
conducted by overlayed land use maps of 2000 and 2011. mapping land suitability
classification was done by comparing (matching) between characteristics of the
land / climate with plant growth requirements. Land use characteristics, namely
temperature, precipitation, soil texture, soil cation exchangeable capacity (CEC),
soil base saturation, pHH2O, C-organic, slope and level of erotion hazard. the
results of matching and then inserted into the attribute map landsystem. To
determine the quality of forest land and oil palm land done by evaluating the
decrease in base saturation, available P and C-organic in forest lands then
compared with oil palm land.
The results indicating that the forest area in the DAS Babalan unchanged
into palm oil plantations, the actual land suitability classes for palm oil in the
DAS Babalan is S2wa, nr and potential land suitability is S2wa. There was a
decrease base saturation, available P and C-organic. | en_US |
