A HERAWATI HUTABARAT : The Study of Erosion Hazard Level on Andepts Soil using Maize Crop at Kwala Bekala University of North Sumatera. Supervised by SUMONO and EDI SUSANTO. Cultivation on slope land is susceptible to erosion. The research was conducted on maize farm to evaluate the effect of the crop on the level of erosion. The research was perfomed in August-October 2010 using USLE and small square methods. Parameters analysed were soil type, soil permeability, rate of C- organic, soil texture, soil structure, land obliquity, rainfall, volume of run-off, and sedimentation weight. Result of the research showed that the maize crop have an effect on decreasing the erosion level in oblique land. The average of erosion that occured according to USLE method was 58,61 ton/(ha.year) and according to small square method was 32,82 ton/(ha.year). The Erosion Hazard Level is in Medium level. The difference of erosion between small square method and USLE method was due to the C and P factor at USLE method obtained through secondary data, that should be obtained through direct measurement in the research location.en_US
