dc.description.abstractThis study is titled Self Disclosure between Parents and Children. (Phenomenology of Self Disclosure between Single Mother and teenage girl at KelurahanManggaKecamatan Medan Tuntungan Kota Medan). Self Disclosure is an activity to share feeling and information that familiar with others. According to DeVito’s opinion that self disclosure is to share personal information including thought, feeling, personal opinion and also information that is hidden to others. This study aims to determine the strategy of self-disclosure between a single mother and a teenage girl in KelurahanManggaKecamatan Medan Tuntungan Kota Medan and to know the difficulties and the ease of single mother was found with teenage girl in the process of self-disclosure. Supporting theory used in this study, Communication Theory, Inter- Personal Communication Theory, Theory of Self Disclosure, Social Penetration Theory, and Johari Window Theory. The method used in this research is qualitative phenomenological method, which aims to illustrate, summarize a variety of condition, some situations, or various phenomena of social realities that exist in the community that becomes the object of research and trying to pull it to the surface of reality as a trait, character, nature, model, sign or picture of the situation or the particular phenomenon. This study uses paradigm konstrutivisme approach. Through a qualitative approach, data obtained from the field were taken through literature research and indepth interviews of informants. Research carried out within 8 days of the January 31 to February 7, 2015. The data analysis technique used in this study is Miles and Huberman that researchers do data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. The results obtained are single mothers who had adolescent girls successfully perform self-disclosure. With the feedback received a single mother is one key to the success of self-disclosure so that the objectives that want to be achieved can be achieved, i.e. the establishment of intimacy, familiarity, and deep relationship.en_US
