    Abstract
    Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) ls composed of a diverse group, and has a different topicsm for epithelial and life cycle strategies. Based on the possibility of epithelial dysplasia and malignancy of the HPV rs divided into low risk and high risk. Low risk HPV test such as HPV types 6, 11,42,43, M, 54, 61,70,72 and 8l tend to cause benign tumors such as warts and genital wart. While the high risk types tend to cause anogenital malignancies such as cancer of the cervix, vulva, vagina, anus and penis, where HPV types 16 and l8 are often found or high-grade dysplasia and malignancy. Because of the work they're running, then the female sex workers (FSW) is considered a high-risk group for developing HR- HPV genital infection and cervical carcinoma on the future, Objective: Knowing the proportion of high-risk HPV 6pes 16 and 18 from cervical smears in FSW who went to the STD Clinic Veteran Medan. Methods: This study is a descriptive study with cross sectional design, involving 52 people FSW. Samples were taken from cervical smears and detection of HPV types 16 and 18 was conducted using Polymerase Chain Reaction, Results: Fifty-two people FSW enrolled in this study and FSW obtained generally aged 3645 years, the level of junior high school, a widow, had a number of sexual partners on average per week of <10 merq first sexual intercourse at the age between 15 and 20 years old, has a frequency of sexual intercourse on average per week as much as 10-20 times, do not use condoms, oral contraceptive use, and have a history of smoking, Of these 52 people, 13 FSW encountered positive for HR-HPV. Eight people were positive for HPV 16, 3 people positive for HPV 18 and the remaining 2 both HPV types 16 and l8 positive. Of the positive HR-HPV FSW, 38.5% had a number of sexual partners on average per week as <10 men, 53 .8o/o were first sexual intercourse at the age between 15 and 20 years, 38 .5Yo have a frequency of sexual intercourse an average of 10-20 times per week, 84,6% did not use a condom, 92.1 % did not use oral contraceptives, and as much as 84.6% had a history of smoking, Conclusions: The proportion of high-risk HPV was 25Yo overall. The proportion of HPV 16 was 15,4% HPV 18 was 5.8%. There is a 3.8% FSWs who have both tyes of HPV. WPS with HR-HPV positive generally have many sexual partners on average per week of <10 men, first sexual intercourse at the ago between 15 and 20 years old, has a frequency of sexual intercourse on average per week as much as 10-20 times, not using condoms, oral contraceptive use, and have a histrory of smoking.
