Abstract

This research is titled "violation ethic code of photojournalism at Harian Pos Metro." (Study analysis content about violation violation ethic code of photojournalism at Harian Pos Metro Medan Juli edition in 2016. The purpose of doing this research is to know how much photonews which abuse Journalism ethic code, specifically in clause 4 and 5, at Harian Pos Metro July edition in 2016 and how that violation formed. The theory that would be used in this research are positivism, mass communication, photography, photography journalism , mass media, and newspaper. Data research are gotten from literature studies and documenter studies which are unit analysis data collect by collecting datas from written materials which are photonews at harian Pos Metro july adition in 2016. Analysis data is done by quantitative content analysis method. The sampling techniques that been used to get these samples is total sample thecniques, which use all of population in research implementation. The population in this research is Harian Pos Metro July edition in 2016 which amounting to 25 copies. The sample that been selected are contained 336 photonews. Whereas for the reliability test researcher used holsti formula. Research result show that themes of photonews that most often appeared evenly between crime news and non crime news. This case is showed by percentages of picture stories of non crime news such as medan government (34%) and criminal news, drugs(13%), robbery(11%), and percecution (5%). In examining the application of code of ethics for journalism clause 4 and 5 at harian pos metro, researchers still found violations, for example, sadistic photos (5%), showing the identity of immoral crime victims(1%), and show the identity picture of children who become offenders (0%). As for lewd pictures category has no offense at all.
