    Abstract
    An organization to achieve success is supported by the factors in it, one of which is human resources. Human resources in an organization are employees who have a role to achieve organizational goals. To achieve the goals, the organization needs to pay attention to the performance of its employees. Good employee performance occurs when there are factors that have a role in it. Usaha Jahit Linawaty Kebaya Medan is a sewing business that provides services in sewing clothes. Usaha Jahit Linawaty Kebaya Medan has a goal, to make customers satisfied with their services. Because of that, there are still things that need to be considered like employees who work at the Usaha Jahit Linawaty Medan. As long as employees carry out their work, some factors have a related role, including competence and the work environment. Working in that clothing industry requires qualified skills and a supportive environment in which employees work could impact the employee's performance. This study aims to determine the effect of the work environment and competence on Usaha Jahit Linawaty Kebaya Medan. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the influence of the work environment and competence can improve the performance of the employees of Linawaty Kebaya Medan. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive research type. The primary data collection technique was through interviews with several informants at the Linawaty Kebaya Sewing Business Medan and also observation in that place. For secondary data retrieval through library research and documentation. The data analysis process is carried out by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of the work environment and competence on the performance of employees of Usaha Jahit Linawaty Kebaya Medan such as adequate lighting, sewing skills, timeliness in working on clothing products, building cooperation among fellow employees, ability to follow developments regarding the latest fashion trends. But, still, some things need to be considered so the employees could do their work well.
