The aim of this research are to identify the signifier and signified of memes in Girls
and to describe the meaning of memes in Girls denotatively and connotatively. The
method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by applying the method of
interactive model theory proposed by Miles, Huberman, Saldana (2014). This
technique of analyzing data used in this research were interactive model by the
processes of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting. The data of this research were
10 memes taken from Girls posts by analyzing memes and the sentences of memes.
The data used in the study is in the form of pictures were downloaded from official
account Girlsin instagram platform. The result of the research, the researcher found
that appearance and phrases in the analyzed 10 data have meanings related to the
girls life situations.
