Abstract

The title of this research is Communication Strategy The Daughter in law with Mother in law (Case Study of Communication Strategy The Daughter in law with Mother in law in Face The Conflict in Medan). The objective of this research is to study a communication strategy applied by daughter in law in face a conflict with mother in law and the causal factor of conflict between the daughter in law with mother in law in Medan. This research applies qualitative approach with case study method. The theory applied in this research is Relational Dialectics Theory, Communication Strategy, and Conflict. The object of this research is communication strategy the daughter in law with mother in law in face the conflict. The subjects of this research is daughter in law who already lives together with a mother in law during 1-5 years. Informant in this research is consist of five daughter in law who already lives together with mother in law in Medan. The techniques used in the informant selection is a techniques purpose sampling, which is the source based on these criteria that are made of researchers based on the purposes of research. Techniques of data analysis method in this research is Miles and Huberman with stage data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of research indicates that communication strategy applied by daughter in law in face a conflict with mother in law is to leave her and be quiet. The causal factor of conflict face by daughter in law who already live with mother in law is various, such as: the naughty of children (Informant I), the different opinion in care the children (Informant III and V), a lower income of daughter in law (Informant V), and the mother in law who always compare and take a side because any informant in this research did not only stay with mother in law but also the brother in law (Informant IV and V)
