dc.description.abstract | One of technology implementation in terms of increasing business competition
is using electronic commerce (e-commerce). E-commerce is now beginning to be used
by the owners of Small and Medium Enterprises. The role of SMEs as a driver of
economic growth of the people needs to be improved in order to develop more
comprehensive and competitive. The competitiveness of SMEs can be realized either
by the application of e-commerce.
The objectives of the study are to determine the motives, benefits and
perceived barriers to entrepreneurs and to know the extent to which the
implementation of e-commerce to improve competitiveness.
Forms of research used in this research is descriptive using qualitative data
analysis. Methods of data collection is done by observation, interview and
documentation study.
The result indicate that the motive of enterpreneurs in implementing e commerce are promoting the products 100%, branding 92%, save the cost and
statisfyng customers 82%, improve competitiveness 78%, expand business 66%. The
benefits are Help communication quickly to the customers 96%, promotion 92%,
increase sales turnover of 88%, 86% increase in the number of customers, customer
satisfaction of 80%, opening up new business opportunities 76%, 74% expansion of
the range of business. The barriers faced by how to market products 72%, the cost of
Internet service providers that expensive 60%, lack of information about e-commerce
