dc.description.abstractThe title of this study is The Influence of Blackberry Messenger’s Effectiveness to Public Participation in Blood Donation Movement in Medan. The purpose of this study is to determine the extent of the influence of the effectiveness of Blackberry Messenger to public participation in the movement of blood donors in Medan and the extent of public participation who get the information about blood donation via BlackBerry Messenger and follow the movement of blood donors in Medan. The method used in this study is correlational method, a method that explore and clarify the relationship and test hypotheses and to make predictions. The population in this study is 592 people. By using the sampling technique by Taro Yamane, obtained a sample of 86 people who are Medan society who ever get the information about blood donation via Blackberry Messenger. Data collection techniques used in this research is field research by using questionnaires and library research through reading literature and reading sources. Data analysis techniques used in this research are single-table analysis, cross-table analysis, and hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing is done by using the formula of Spearman’s Rho Rank–Ordern Correlation with the results of 0.47. Guilford scale is used to see the strength of the correlation between the two variables. The results are in scale of 0,40-0.70 which indicates a significant relationship between the effectiveness of Blackberry Messenger to Public Participation in Blood Donation Movement in Medan. Ttest formula is used to test the significance of the effect of variable X to Y, where t count > t table or 4.88 > 1.99 which means the effectiveness of Blackberry Messenger affect the Public Participation in Blood Donation Movement in Medan at 22.09%. The result of this study indicates that there is a significant relationship between the Effectiveness of Blackberry Messenger to Public Participation in Blood Donation Movement in Medan.en_US
