Identifikasi Iklim, Tanah dan Irigasi pada Lahan Potensial Pertanian di Kabupaten Karo

Abstract

The background of this research is an agricultural resources development in karo regency. The purpose of this research was to explore agro-climate and soil condition as well as supporting infrastructures such as irrigation facilities in five sites which in line with one of the government programs to promote Karo as a main stapple crops production areas. Aspects that have been identified were climate condition, topography, soil condition, prediction for erotion, hydrology and irrigation system and condition of as irrigation facilities. The results showed that the climate in the study areas was classified as Oldeman B1, the topography was flat and hilly. The types of soil texture were clay loam, loam and clay. The actual erotion was 3,07 – 8,52 ton/Ha/year. The condition of irrigation facilities was mostly well.
