Analisis Kerugian Ekonomi, serta Pengetahuan Masyarakat terhadap Konflik Orangutan Sumatera (Pongo abelii) (Studi Kasus Desa Kuta Gajah, Kecamatan Kutambaru dan Desa Besilam, Kecamatan Padang Tualang, Kabupaten Langkat)

Abstract

ONI SRI RAHAYU SITORUS : Analysis of Economic Loss and Society Knowledge of Orangutan Sumatera conflict (Pongoabelli) (Case Study Kuta Gajah Village Kutambaru District and Besilam Village Padang Tualang District Langkat Regency) . Supervised by PINDI PATANA and AGUS PURWOKO The biggest threat of the wildlife animal is caused by forest clearing into agriculture land, gardening, mining,and the settlement. Forest degradation or the loss of wild animal, especially Orangutan Sumatera (Pongo abelli) force them to enter the society agricultural area and cause conflicts between human and Orangutan.The purpose of this research are to calculate the total economic loss that society suffered caused by the conflicts, to know the cost that society, LSM and government have been spend for mitigating conflict between human and Orangutan Sumatera (P. abelli) and also to analize the society knowledge about the reasons of the conflicts between human and Orangutan Sumatera (P. abelli). Thuis research did in March 2013 to April 2013 in Kuta Gajah and Besilam Village in interview method with citizen whom damaged the land by the Orangutan. The results of this research show that total economic loss of Kuta Gajah citizen is Rp. 1.484.700,00/family/month while the Besilam citizen is Rp. 70.000,00/family/month. In the conflict mitigation, the government cooperate with OIC and total cost that have been spend is Rp. 116.000,00 for meriam karbit technique in Kuta Gajah village and Rp. 9.840.000,00 for Orangutan evacuation to TNGL in Besilam village.
