Polyprophylene to Weathering Exposed. Under Supervised by Luthfi Hakim and

Fiber plastic composites (FPC) is one of expand biocomposites product to
substitute wood. In this research FPC made from recycle polyprophylene and old
corrugated paper fiber. The purpose of this research were to evaluate durability
of physical and mechanical properties of FPC after exposed to outdoor
weathering for six months. This research use completely randomized factorial
design, 2 factors: compositions polyprophylene and fiber (50:50, 60:40 and
70:30) and percentage of maleic anhydryd (5% and 7%) and the results compare
with JIS A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type
13. The results showed that the physical properties of FPC fulfill standard JIS A
5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards type 13 after
exposed to outdoor weathering for six months except moisture content.
Mechanical properties testing showed that modulus of rapture fulfill standard JIS
A 5905-2003 hardboard S20 and JIS A 5908-2003 particleboards too. Physicly
FPC degradated too, such as board colour change and board broken.
