| dc.description.abstract | Parmalim is a local indigenous religion among the Toba Batak people. Parmalim was first established in 497 AD or 1450 Batak years. Generally Parmalim adherents are Toba Batak people who live in Toba Regency, North Tapanuli, as well as in other areas such as Simalungun Regency, Dairi Regency and Central Tapanuli. The arrival of the Parmalim community in Medan City has been around since the 1960s. The Parmalim community initially came to Medan City as immigrants to work. At the beginning of the arrival of the Parmalim people in Medan City, they worked as laborers at PTPN II and some traded basic necessities in the market. Patterns of interaction are dynamic relationships and often occur between individuals, between groups of people, as well as between individuals and groups of people. This study aims to find out how the pattern of interaction that occurs between the Parmalim community and the non Parmalim community around the Parmalim Palace Binjai Village Medan Denai District Medan City. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques in this study were obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. Through the results of the study, it can be seen that the pattern of interaction that has been established with the non Parmalim community is very good. The pattern of interaction that looks so real in the daily life of the Parmalim community towards non Parmalim is that people respect each other’s differences, help and carry out mutual cooperation around their homes. However, it must be admitted that the Parmalim community has had painful experiences when dealing with non Parmalim communities such as being forbidden by the spouse’s parents in a romantic relationship, discrimination at work, being scolded during school, being exiled and forced to lie to themselves. Tolerance, mutual respect, cooperation and maintaining friendship still need to be improved. | en_US |
