Different Altitude in North Sumatra . Under Supervised by BUDI UTOMO and
AFIFUDDIN DALIMUNTHE.
Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) is one of the important agricultural
commodity, both as a source of revenue, driving economic growth and
preservation of the environment and biological resources. The purpose of this
research is to inventory the distribution of rubber (H.brasiliensis) in North
Sumatra in relation to climate differences and altitude. This study used a
descriptive method of determining location based on the difference in height
between 0-800 meters above sea level with the criteria that the village has a
rubber plant where sampling method was done by Purposive Sampling which
sampling deliberately chosen.
The results showed that low productivity of smallholder rubber plantations
in North Sumatra is mainly caused by the application of rubber technology and
farm management are not as recommended. Rubber Development in North
Sumatra with the extension in a cold climate region has the potential to increase
the productivity of smallholder rubber such as is found in some villages which
have cold climates Desa Martelu, Kecamatan Sibolangit with rubber areas of 10
hectares, Desa Parsikkaman, Kecamatan Adiankoting with rubber areas of 30
hectares, Desa Onan Hasang, Kecamatan Pahae Julu with rubber areas of 25
hectares, Desa Perdamean Nainggolan, Kecamatan Pahae Jae with rubber areas
of 38 hectares, and Desa Simirik, Kecamatan Sipirok with rubber areas of 36
hectares. | en_US |
