dc.description.abstract | MEYLAN P SIHOMBING: Abundance and Diversity of Mangrove Crab
(Scylla spp.) On the River Mangrove Forest Area as fragile as Tanjung Pura
Langkat District. Under the guidance ONRIZAL and ALEX TERNALA BARUS
River region as fragile as a district of Tanjung Pura Langkat mangrove
forests on both sides of the river encountered mud crab (Scylla spp.). However,
due to conversion of land into oil palm plantation and aquaculture area of
distribution reduced the mangrove crab. This study aims to measure the diversity
and abundance of mud crab (Scylla spp.) Under various conditions of forest
stands of mangrove and identify the factors that influence the spread of mud crab
(Scylla spp.) In the mangrove forest located in the River as fragile. This research
was conducted from February-March 2010 in the area of mangrove forest in the
River District as fragile as Tanjung Pura Kabnupaten Rare. Defined seven
stations and is divided into two sub-stations.
Results Measurement of Physical-Chemical Parameters of Water and
Substrate on the River area of mangrove forests as fragile as follows: the average
water temperature ranged from 28.00 to 29.00 ◦ C, the average pH of water
ranged from 6.80 to 7.00, average average pH of the substrate ranged from 4.90
to 5.40, the average water salinity ranged from 15.00 to 22.30 ‰, the average
salinity of the substrate ranged from 18.50 to 19.50 ‰, and average water depth
of about 13 0.10 to 42, 50 ‰. Substrate bottom waters in this region are classified
in terkstur mud. The highest density of mangrove species at station III
pohonadalah level of 1200-1500 ind / ha. Average litter weight obtained at each
station ranged from 39.86 to 73.70 gr/m2.
The results showed that the Scylla spp. found there are two types of S.serrata and
S. oceanica. Mangrove crab abundance at all stations ranged from 41.67 to
241.67 ind / ha. The distribution pattern of mangrove crabs were classified to the
clustered distribution. Scylla serrata are found abundantly in the area behind and
goes down to the waterfront area. Scylla oceanica is found abundantly in the front
area of forests and the less the rear area of mangrove forest. The measurement
results also find that the female mud crab abundance found at each station | en_US |
