The main functions of forests are protected as watersheds, so that water
availability can be maintained at all times. But people still do not understand the
function of these forests. Benefits of SDH did not all have market prices, making it
necessary to use these approaches to quantify the economic value.
This study aims to determine the economic value of water absorption and
the protection forestry Mountain Sinabung TWA Deleng Lancuk around the
village of Kuta Gugung and Sigarang Garang. The research was conducted in
December 2011 to March 2012 with quantifying the economic value of water
based on the cost of procurement and contingency methods. Determination of the
number of samples in the study by the method of stratification.
The results showed that total economic value of water catchment forests
and protected forests Sinabung TWA Deleng Lancuk the village of Kuta Gugung
and Sigarang Garang is Rp. 76.586.602, - per year with an average value of the
benefits perceived by each household of Rp. 129.151. The cost of total household
water consumption is equal to Rp. 5.141.369.3, - per year at a cost of household
water consumption by an average of Rp.8.670.1, - per year. Total consumer
surplus of Rp.71.445.233, - per year with a surplus of consumers who felt by each
household of Rp. 120.481, - per year.
Based on the research results can be seen that the water catchment forests
and protection forestry Sinabung and Deleng Lancuk TWA has given a
considerable contribution to the community to meet the water needs of
