My thesis is titled POWER PRESIDENT (An Overview of Theoretical Authority
President Sukarno's Guided Democracy Political System (1959-1965). The aim of this study
is to describe how the system of guided democracy in the reign of Sukarno and analyze it by
using the theory of power. The data that I use in this study is derived from books, journals
and the Internet. the method of analysis used in this research is descriptive qualitative.
The results of this study indicate that the powers of the president Sukarno showed a
concentration of power in the hands of the executive during the guided democracy. The
amount of power that Sukarno, gave rise to abuses against other institutions such as the
dissolution done in the legislature. In any case, contrary to the constitution of our country so
much an uprising during the Guided Democracy.
Therefore, to avoid the concentration of power in the hands of one institution required
the division of powers with the term Trias Politica which divides between the powers of the
executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Power division has the objective to limit the
power so there is no concentration of power in one institution that allows the act of
arbitrariness.
