Abstract

This study tries to describes the policies on agricultural sector formulatedbythe Government of Province of Sumatera Utara in order to fulfill the national commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emission. Since environmental issues hasbecome “high politics” agenda nowdays, it would be so fascinating to discuss thisfield. This study is more relevant and tremendously important since Provinceof Sumatra Utara leads as the highest province of producing greenhouse gasemissions in Indonesia, nor agricultural sector as the largest contributors of greenhouse gas emissions in Province of Sumatra Utara. This type of studyusedqualitative while the method is descriptive. The theories which are usedtoexplain the problems are Ecology Politic, Sustainable Development Paradigm, and Public Policy. This study showed that although the policy has existing, therefound many challenges in effort to implemented, such as administration, formal legal, and political aspect.
