    Abstract
    The title of this research is the impact of gadgets on social interaction. Gadget is a medium that is used as a modern communication tool. Social interaction is a dynamic social relationship in inter-community life. Through this study, researchers wanted to see how the impact of gadgets on the process of direct social interaction and the impact of gadgets on individuals in Environment IV, Kisaran Barat Village. This research method is a qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation methods. What is observed is how the research subjects use gadgets and how the process of social interaction that occurs due to playing gadgets. Determination of informants using purposive sampling method, with informants namely 5 individuals and 3 additional informants. The data presented refers to George Simmel's theory of social interaction to see the form of the interaction process that can be seen from certain interests, goals and intentions. The results of this study were to determine the impact of gadgets on direct social interaction on individuals in Environment IV Kisaran Barat, creating an attitude of lack of desire to gather with other individuals, reduced sense of concern for other communities and could trigger conflict. The process of online interaction through gadgets has its own motives and different purposes. George Simmel's pattern of social interaction can be distinguished from the content of a particular interest or purpose. Barriers that occur for direct social interaction due to the use of gadgets occur because the interaction pattern has interests such as a sense of fun making friends online, fast communication processes, social community (entertainment), so that there are relationships that influence each other, change and improve individual behavior. other or vice versa. Gadgets also have a positive impact as a means of communication and information, social society, as well as the process of knowledge and learning. The negative impact is in the form of wasted time and delayed activities, decreased socialization and ability to socialize and health problems. This research is expected to be useful for adding and expanding knowledge and insight into scientific studies in the development of sociology and further research and can be a reference, especially regarding the impact of gadgets on the process of social interaction.
