Peran Pemuda Katolik dalam Pendidikan Politik di Sumatera Utara

Abstract

This research tries to describe the role of the Pemuda Katolik North Sumatra Commissariat in political education in North Sumatra. Pemuda Katolik is a youth organization that is engaged in social and political. Catholic youth as youth organizations, religious, but the activities can not be separated from practical politics. This marked the beginning of the establishment who took part in the history of political movements in Indonesia and many leaders of the Pemuda Katolik who participate in political activities in Indonesia. Pemuda Katolik as youth organizations have a responsibility to carry out political education. With this view, this study wanted to know whether the Pemuda Katolik implement political education? How is the role of political education? The theory is used to explain the problem is the theory of Political Education and educational purposes politics by Kartini Kartono and Theory of Organizational Behavior by Stephen P. Robbins. The method used in this study is a qualitative research with descriptive method of analysis. Techniques of data collection is done by interview and literature study. As for the informant and the unit of analysis is the cadre who is also the leader of Pemuda Katolik Commissariat of North Sumatra, as Mr. Oloan Simbolon, Mr. Hotdiman Manik, Mr. Maniur Rumapea and Mr. Johannes Naibaho. Based on the analysis of these results, the authors conclude that political education is carried out by the Pemuda Katolik North Sumatra Commissariat limited only to the internal circles of Pemuda Katolik. Political education is implemented in the form of seminars and training activities. As for the general public, Pemuda Katolik openly carry no political education, but in seminars and activities of political education is open to all communities.
