dc.description.abstract | One of the problems of children who until now there is the problem of street
children. Street children is a phenomenon that never moribund outposts throughout
the major cities in Indonesia, such as Medan. Meningktanya need for food, clothing,
housing and the difficulty of the competition resulted in children's lives should also
be taking to the streets doing all sorts of activities in the street in order to meet the
necessities of life. Bertujan of this study to determine the factors that cause children
to become street children in Sub Sei Mati subdistrict of Medan Maimun Medan.
With the hope to have a positive influence in the effort handlers street children.
This research is descriptive and qualitative approach by analyzing the factors
that cause children to become street children in Sub Sei Mati subdistrict of Medan
Maimun Medan. Therefore in this study is not known and the sample population.
Rather informants who provide information that is clear, accurate and reliable, both
in the form of statements, information or data that can help meet problems or
concerns. The informants divided into three, including key informants, ie 5 street
children, additional informa that parents of street children as many as five people,
and key informants that one person's head Sei Mati village district of Medan Maimun
Medan. To obtain information or data through library research and field studies,
namely by means of observation and interviews.
In this study it can be concluded that based on the information and data that
have been obtained in the research process that become factors that cause children to
become street children in Sub Sei Mati subdistrict of Medan Maimun Medan caused
by three factors, namely micro factors (originating from within him and his family),
factor messo (caused by the social environment), and the macro factors, namely,
(their chances of employment in the informal sector who do not really need the
capital and expertise they need to be on the streets, the cost of higher education and
also not diverse elements of the government views as a group of street children who
