dc.description.abstractBackground : Stroke is one of the main causes of human brain disturbances at the peak of productive ages and is placed at rank number two as the death cause after heart diseases in most countries. With CT Scan, diagnosis on stroke can be done more properly as to confirm the diagnose previously done clinically. Researches on the use of brain CT Can to evaluate prognostic on stroke are still rare. Information regarding higher cortical function is a science which relates human behaviours ... beginning from the simplest to the most complicated ones to the nervous system in the brain. Researches on the cognitive function on the right hemisphere especially on the visuo ... construction disturbances are very few especially in Indonesia. The basic idea of right hemisphere specialty is related to the function of visuo-construction. The test on the Rey Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF) is a frequently recommended test on visuo-construction. The test of visuo-construction which correlates with the size and position of infarct lesion is still a controversy. With the advent of a modern diagnosing instrument like CT Scan, a study on the correlation between visuo-construction clinical disorders and size and position of lesion taken from the results of the right hemisphere brain scanning on the patients with stroke can be more accurately carried out. Goals : To find out the correlation degree of function disorders of visuo- construction which is measured from the score of ROCF and lesion size of brain infarction and also to see the relation between ROCF and the position of lesion infarct in the brain which is measured from from CT Scan examination on patients with stroke on the right hemisphere. Method : This research is a correlation study of the results of score examination on construction function disturbances with the ROCF test on patients with right hemispheric ischemic stroke which is also correlated with the lesion size and. position of infarction as shown by the result of CT Scanning on the patient's brain which is later shown in statistical analysis. The number of samples are 25 (16 males and 9 females) which have fulfilled inclusive and exclusive criteria. Samples were taken from Neurological Department of H.Adam Malik Public Hospital, Bunda Specialist Centre, and Gleneagles Hospital in Medan. The average age of the samples is 56.4 years with age brackets of 50 - 60. Most patients were holding S1 Degree (36%). The majority Rankin's score 1 (48%) and score 3 (32%). Result : Mean MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination) score is 27.3 with lowest score 24 and highest 30. Mean ROCF score is 25.6 with lowest score 6 and highest 36. It was discovered that there was an insignificant correlation between the degree of visuo-construction function disturbances - measured by ROCF test and lesion infarct size in the brain ( p > 0.05) with negative correlation coefficient of ( r = 0.26). A significantly negative correlation between Rankin's score and the degree of education and ROCF score ( p < 0.05). It was also discovered that there was a positive significant correlation of the ROCF score, MMSE score and the degree of education ( p < 0.05). From the study, it was concluded that the position of infarct lesion is mostly discovered in right periventricular with the average ROCF score of = 25 while the lowest ROCF score is 6 with lesion in the right external capsule {p < 0.05). Conclusion : From the result of the study, in spite of its insignificance, it can be clinically concluded that the lower ROCF score, the MMSE score and the degree education score are the greater is the size of lesion infarct. The position of lesion in the external capsule reveals the bad function of construction. With the increasing number of stroke cases in Indonesia, in the future, the number of disabling function of visuo-construction will also increase. From a research like this, it expected that ROCF test is more useful for the progress of rehabilitation and for the purpose of determining on patients with stroke.en_US
