Peranan Australia dalam Proses Lepasnya Timor Timur dari NKRI pada Tahun 1999
Abstract
This research describes about the history of the integration and the loss of East
Timor from Indonesia, as well as a look at the role of Australia in the process of the
loss of East Timor from Indonesia. The purpose of the writing of this research is to
describing the early aspirations of East Timor by Indonesia and the process of the loss
of East Timor from Indonesia, and Australia's attitude in the process of the loss of
East Timor from Indonesia.
The form of this research is descriptive analyst historical focus on the role of
Australia and Australia's attitude in the process of the loss of East Timor (referendum)
of Indonesia. The sources of this research through the study of library
(library research) by gathering resources/materials among other things via books,
scientific journals, and internet searches as well as print media.
The results of this research to show Australia's role in the process of the
referendum. Australia takes an important role both in the security forces of the
UNITED NATIONS INTERFET, in which australia as the state takes a responsibility
of the core troops and logistics as well as contributed the most troops, the team
preparation for the referendum and also a UNAMET team governance transition
to UNTAET in East Timor, as well as the attitude of Australia that is seen giving a
quick reaction in the referendum process and impressed greatly sought for East Timor
to independence and has its own interest in the release of East Timor from Indonesia.
