dc.description.abstractThis research trying to describe the history, thought and political power of Javanese ethnic identity in North Sumatra. The arrival of the Javanese formerly as worker contracting tobacco plantations in North Sumatera, gradually became an identity. The implementation of regional autonomy by the central government gives the widest place to certain ethnic groups to show identity, especially in North Sumatera. By looking at this problem, the researcher will looking the answer of the history, thought, political strength that have done by Javanese ethnic in political identity in North Sumatera. The theory of identity politics and the concept of ethnicity used to explain the problem. The method used in this study is interviews as the main technique of data collection. This study relies on the results of the analysis of interview data obtained and relevance to the theory used. Ethnicity is in fact used for political and ethnic purposes, because both are legitimacy for obtaining identity. Then the Javanese ethnic in the election that calculated by many parties, especially the candidates who will advance in North Sumatra.en_US
