dc.description.abstractViews of the entire population of Indonesia, the majority of the poor population in Indonesia are traditional fishermen who are in the coastal area, it can be seen on some indicators such as; There are still many older fishermen who are not educated, there are still many fishermen who cannot enjoy the information from electronic media, food intake does not meet four of the five perfectly healthy, their houses are very simple, sago palm leaf-roofed, bamboo berdindingkan, feature Board that looks out of date is the dwelling place of the traditional fishing workers and fishermen (panjaring salam). Research conducted in the Villages of Pandan subdistrict Pandan Central Tapanuli Regency. Key informants in this study was the village head of Villages Pandan. The main informant in this research is a traditional fishing amounted to three people. Additional informants in this study was the wife whose husband works as a traditional fishing amounted to two people. The data obtained in the field later in the analysis by researchers who described qualitatively. Until the conclusion can be drawn from the results of such research. Based on the results of research and observations directly against subject research found the fact, that Community fishermen in kelurahan tradidional Pandan subdistrict Pandan Central Tapanuli Regency apply three strategies to keep survive, and meet the needs of the family, namely: active Strategy is a strategy of survival that traditional fishing is done by extending working hours and make use of their services. A passive strategy that is looking for other jobs such as working to make nets/fix the nets of fishermen friends or working as laborers in addition they are also more likely to extend his hours of work. A passive strategy is a strategy of survival that is done by applying the pattern of frugal, skimpy revenue demands the fishing communities to implement cultural life saver like eating potluck side dishes. The network strategy is a strategy of survival made by traditional fishing by way of asking for help to neighbors, relatives, other social relationships and toke either in formal or informal when fishermen in trouble. Fishermen generally borrow money to neighbors, toke, as well as asking for assistance to families for their children's school fees.en_US
