Strategi Bertahan Hidup Masyarakat Petani di Desa Hutatinggi Kecamatan Pangururan Kabupaten Samosir

Abstract

This study aims to find out and describe how the strategy in Hutatinggi Village Pangururan District of Samosir Regency can survive amid its limitations, as well as natural factors that do not support. This type of research pertained des tif with qualitative approach which aims to describe the survival strategy of farmer community in Hutatinggi village, Pangururan District, Samosir District. Place of study is determined by purposive area method and the determination of subject by purposive method. Data collection methods used in this study consisted of interviews, observation, and documentation. The result of this study indicate that there are there strategies conducted by farmers who do not conduct agricultural activities in the dry season to survive by implementing and active straregy, where farmers usually extend working hours, seek side jobs, and involve family members. The second is to implement a passive strategy, where farmers minimize expenditure. Third is by implementing a network strategy, where farmers take advantage of their social networks by borrowing money to relatives and neighbors around their homes.
