| dc.description.abstract | The recent rise in fuel prices, causing tremendous upheaval in the Indonesian economy.
On one side of this increase a positive impact on the country's foreign exchange is considered
more efficient because it managed to divert subsidies to the sector - considered productive sector
such as education and health. On the other hand the increase is also a negative impact, because
the community trigger high inflation due to rising costs of public transport and the price of the
price of basic necessities. Obviously the increase is the more pressing business people in the
informal sector meet their economic needs. In addition to venture capital has increased, turnover
or their income also declined due to reduced purchasing power. Through this study, the authors
attempted to reveal how the response hawkers on the street Dr. Mansour as issues that arise as a
result of the price increase. As well as try to explore strategies and their efforts to suppress the
rise of venture capital.
The aim of this study was to describe the response of street vendors in jl. Dr. Mansyur
about the rising fuel prices. The method used in this research is descriptive approach with
quantitative methods and use a Likert scale as data analysis methods. Respondents are hawkers
on the street Dr. Mansyur front Medan USU campus consisting of food and beverage vendors.
The results showed that the response of vendors to price increases of fuel oil (BBM) is a
neutral / not concerned with the value of -0.07, because it is between 0.33 to -0.33. The response
variables measured based on the perceptions and attitudes derived from the merchants. This
response occurs because the merchant must try to survive in economic conditions that suppress
them.
The absence of the approach taken by the government in taking a policy of making the
indifference among traders, which if allowed to go will cause distrust of government. Therefore,
the government should open a space of communication and socialization and create policies that
support the economic development of the informal sector in an effort to improve social welfare
