I HAMONANGAN MUNTHE. Structure and Composition of The Tress at Sumatran Orangutan’s Habitat (Pongo abelii) in Sumatra Orangutan Observation, Bukit Lawang. Under Academic Supervision of PINDI PATANA and SITI LATIFAH Forests are the most important component to support orangutan life. Forest destruction will necessarily lead to a decline of orangutans. Therefore, management of habitat quantity and quality through the structure and composition of the tree needs to be done as an orangutan conservation efforts. The methodology which used in this research is the analysis of vegetation by species area curve. The result showed 52 species from 29 families and consists of 33 species orangutan. Composition of species with the highest INP for all trail for seedlings is Eugenia sp. 37.377 % , the rate of saplings is Eugenia sp. 49 258 % , the level of Pithecellobium jiringa pole is 38.376 % and the level of the tree is Litsea sp. 57.383 %. Horizontal structure is dominated by tree species in the 20 - 29 cm diameter class (52.143 %). Vertical structure is divided into three strata, namely Strata A, B and C. Diversity of species including moderate (Shannon - Wiener). Tree growth rate is the highest species richness (Margalef), in small trees and tree species showed diffused (Ludwig and Reynolds), the similarities between the two communities (Index of Similarity) showed high levels of community similarity ( Sorensen ) .en_US
