dc.description.abstractTri Ayu Kurnia. Effect of Long Drying Raw Materials and Methods Hydro and Steam Distillation of the Quality Fragrant Lemongrass Oil (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle). Academic supervised by Irawati Azhar and Tito Sucipto. Destillation was done using two methods, hydro and refining methods steam distillation method with lemongrass fragrance raw materials with long drying treatment without drying the raw material (fresh), draining three days and six days drying. Differences destillation methods and long drying materials suspected to affect the quality and yield of lemongrass scented oil produced. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of long drying materials and methods of refining the quality of fragrant lemongrass oil and evaluate the physical and chemical properties of lemongrass scented oil produced. Lemongrass scented oil extracted by destillation method using hydro and the steam distillation method. The yield produced by the destillation method hydro greater than steam destillation method. Value of the physical properties of lemongrass scented oils that meet the SNI 06-3953-1995 is the value of specific gravity in fragrant lemongrass oil without drying (fresh) with hydro destillation method, while the refractive index values did not meet standards. Value of chemical properties meet SNI 06-3953-1995 was total geraniol in lemongrass scented oil with hydro destillation method without drying the raw material (fresh), draining three days, six days and drying as well as the total value sitronellal scented with lemongrass oil refining methods boiled the raw material without drying (fresh), draining three days, six days and drying, and the fragrant lemongrass oil with steam distillation method on raw materials by drying three days and six days. Value of solubility in 80% ethanol did not meet the standard.en_US
