Children are the successor to the ideals of national struggle and human civilization,
and an asset to any family. Family or the parents who should be one of the pillars responsible
in fulfilling the rights of children such as parenting, educating and protecting children.
However, the lives of children continue tarnished by acts of violence. Various cases of child
abuse that occurred today, it is done by those closest to the child that comes from their own
parents. There are factors that influence the acts of violence against children is generally
caused by internal factors derived from the child's own conditions or external factors that
originate outside of the child such as family circumstances. This study aims to determine the
factors that influence the occurrence of acts of violence against children in the family
environment.
This type of research is classified as a type of descriptive research that aims to
describe clearly and deeply about the factors that affect child abuse in the family. The
number of informants in this study were 11 informants. .Meanwhile Techniques of data
analysis in this study descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. Conclusions obtained
through the analysis of the data that the dominant factor affecting the acts of violence against
children in the family in the Indonesian Child Protection Commission of North Sumatra
Province is a family problem.
Not only that, there are other factors that influence the occurrence of child abuse in
the family as a factor treatment or the child's own attitude, lack of knowledge and
understanding of parents in providing education and care for children is good because the
economic conditions are mediocre, factors parenting parents who tend to be authoritarian,
and the character of the parents who have psychological problems such as parents who are
addicted to alcohol.
