Nurses have the great responsibility since they have human service job which provides services for the people; therefore, they have to have good skill in health. High burnout can be influenced by many factors such as excessive workload and low wages. The objective of this research were to find out the correlation of compensation and workload with nurses' burnout in the Inpatient Wards of Marta Friska Brayan Hospital, Medan. The research used descriptive correlation method. The population was 140 nurses, and all of them were used as the samples (total sampling technique), the criteria for inclusion in this study were nurses with a minimum working period of two months, nurses were not on vacation / leave. Statistic test used Pearson correlation test. The result of the research showed that there was significant correlation of compensation with nurses' burnout (p = 0.00; p < 0.05; r= -0.660) with 'strong' correlation. It was also found that there was significant correlation of workload with nurses' burnout (p = 0.00; p < 0.05; r = 0.405) with 'moderate' correlation. It is recommended that the management of the hospital noticed the system of granting compensation clearly especially indirect compensation and pay attention to the proportion of the workload with the number of nurses so that nurses can avoid burnout.en_US
