their families, their schools, and their youth due to various factors so that
they decide to live and move out into the streets. Discrimination and threats often
happen to them. The lack of acceptance in the midst of the society makes them
become excluded and marginalized, whereas they are also part of society. One
thing that can be done to assimilate and unite them with the society is by doing the
process of social inclusion so that they can be accepted in the society.
This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach which is by
describing and depicting the data obtained from the field and then explains it in
words. This study aims to determine how the process of social inclusion of
vagrant children assisted by Working Group of Urban Social (KKSP) Medan.
This research is conducted at the Learning Home of KKSP located at Jalan Brig
Katamso Gang Perwira No. 89 Kelurahan Sei Mati Kecamatan Medan Maimun.
Data collection is done by conducting intense interviews and field observations.
The data are qualitatively narrated and then being analyzed.
Based on the data that have been collected and analyzed, it can be
concluded that the Street children get less attention from the government and less
acceptable in the society and the workplace. It is marked by the absence of proper
treatment by the government and the lack of attention from the public as well as
the lack of employer who are willing to accept and believe them to work at their
place. However, KKSP is managed to make the process of social inclusion of
vagrant children with children of the society around the Learning Home of KKSP
in collaboration with several departments or agencies.
