dc.description.abstract | Necessary efforts to improve education and therapy services for children with
autism in general. Improved service is expected to accommodate more children with
autism as well as minimizing the learning and communication problems, especially in
children with autism. One of the efforts to improve the quality and quantity of
services required of a child with autism in an integrated service system
implementation.
This research was conducted Yayasan Ananda Karsa Mandiri (YAKARI),
which is located on Jl. Seibatu Rata No. 14 Medan. This study includes a descriptive
study, with a population of 12 people, so that all the population sampled. Data was
collected by observation study sites, distributing questionnaires and interviews. Then
the data were analyzed through a quantitative approach.
The results of the field study showed that there are some system services
provided the foundation for autistic children to achieve independence, which is the
method Lovaas / ABA that is through a behavioral approach. Occupational therapy,
which is focused to for daily living abilities of autistic children. Therapy using a
symbol or image that serves to restore the spontaneity of children's communication.
Providing drugs or vitamins as prescribed and disturbance. Helping children with
special needs to be self-sufficient, Helping parents of children with autism to
understand the needs of the child. Besides learning methods provided by the
foundation in the form of a system of care provided to children in the form of a class
of individual programs where children are treated with the technique online or in
person. Therefore, the foundation still must pay attention to the service and can find
out what is needed by the child to be able to support spontaneity and see to what
extent a given therapeutic process to obtain good results for children's development as
