dc.description.abstract | One effort to fulfill the quality of human resources is to highlight the field of
education. Roles and responsibilities of teachers in education as a crucial component
of successful schools create quality human resources and competitive advantages
which will become the future generation to realize it needed the services of a teacher
of Guidance and Counseling teachers in an effort to provide direction and guidance to
students in determine the future career. Without the guidance and direction from
teachers, guidance and counseling students will not get a picture of the future tailored
to their talents, potential and capabilities. The problem that arises is how the students'
ability to utilize the talent, potential and their ability to have a bright future will be.
For this reason this study was conducted in one school located in the Medan Medan
Cahaya in high school.
Samples from this study are Cahaya high school’s student class XI and XII
classes totaling 79 people. This thing did remember to career guidance is one of the
objects of study. Samples taken by using proportional sampling stratified random
sampling. The method used is descriptive research method with qualitative data
analysis. Data screening instruments used are questionnaires and interviews, and
tabulation of data contained in a single data tabulation.
The Cahaya high school study results showed that guidance counseling
programs in career selection to overcome the difficulties students worked well and
effectively. This is evidenced by the quantity of guidance with counselor, ability of
counselor to helping student to solve hiss problwm, ability of students to understand
the talent and potential by itself. Even students can choose their own future career,
especially after counseling with the guidance of their teachers. Students also have to
know and be able to overcome the risk being faced with a career they choose.
