The research about morfological and ecological variation of kepundung in
southern North Sumatera had been carried out in order to get the data about
morphological and ecological kepundung in North Sumatera from December 2014
to April 2015. The collection of data are carried out in South Tapanuli,
Mandailing Natal, Padang Lawas and Padangsidimpuan by exploring and
collecting the vegetative and generative morphological organ, the physical factor
of the chemistry soil (N, P, and K element), spreading and the secondary
metabolic contents. The result of research of morphological organ shows the
variation of leaves, the fruit texture, the colour of the fruit. The analysis of N, P
and K shows the difference in every regency. The nitrogens has its level between
0,17-1,61 %, phosphor has its level 11,68-15,47 ppm, and potassium 0,577--0,735
m.e/100 g. The analysis of ecology shows that kepundung grows between 3 500-
4000 mm/year. The kind of soil is fluvisol, the mixed dried farming habitat, in the
high 5-908 m above sea level in the lands. The analysis of kepundung
phytocemical contents of phenol compound flavanoid, tannin, saponine and
steroids. The secondary metabolic content which are found in the leaves are
flavanoid, tannin, saponin and steroids, in the fruit seed are found flavanoid,
tannin, saponin, steroids, in the pulp and in the bark are founf tannin, saponin and
steroids where as in the fruit leather are only found saponin, steroids compound.
