dc.description.abstract | This study aims to determine the role of negative emotions on attention. Participants in this
study were students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of North Sumatra. The method
used in this study is a type of correlational research. The instruments used to measure the
variables in this study were the Geneva Emotions Wheel for the negative emotion variable
and the Stroop test for the attention variable. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability
sampling in the form of convenience sampling, so that 219 respondents were
found involved in this study. The data obtained were processed and analyzed using SPSS
Statistics 26 in accordance with the basic concept of a simple linear regression test. The
results of this study indicate that there is no influence between the role of negative emotions
on attention in USU Psychology Faculty students with 0,132 > 0.05 (R = 0.010, p < 0.05), (F
= 2.283; p = 0.000) , (t = -1.511; p > 0.05). Negative emotions only contributed as much as
1% to attention in this study. This indicates that there are other factors that have a greater
influence on attention that were not examined in this study. | en_US |
