dc.description.abstract | This study aims to see the effectiveness of using the mnemonic first-letter as a memory strategy that is believed to be effective in improving long-term memory in students who are still in school. The participants in this study were junior high school students at the Christian Foundation Bina Misi PNIEL Medan. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental type with a one group time series experimental design. The treatment given in this study was in the form of a mnemonic first-letter, which was given after a pre-test was carried out 3 times using a measuring instrument in the form of 3 packages of THB questions (Tes Hasil Belajar) arranged in paralel. After being given treatment, the subject's memory will be re-measured using 3 packages of the same THB questions and the changes in their scores will be seen. The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability sampling with convenience sampling, so that one class was chosen among several classes in the school, namely class VII SMP with a total sample of 18 people. The data obtained were processed and analyzed using SPSS Statistics 20 in accordance with the basic concept of the paired sample t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of using mnemonic strategies on memory improvement with p = 0 000 (p < 0 05). Giving a remembering strategy in the form of a first-letter mnemonic has a big influence on increasing memory in research subjects with an value of 77.08%. | en_US |
