Pengaruh Penggunaan Braket Standar Edgewise dan Preadjusted Roth terhadap Hasil Perawatan Maloklusi Klas I Tanpa Pencabutan ditinjau dari Grading System Abo

Abstract

Background: There are several types of brackets available in the market. Standard Edgewise and preadjusted Roth are two common types of brackets used for orthodontic treatment. Evaluation of orthodontic treatment outcomes is necessary for the sake of improving treatment quality. Grading System by American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is one of the most detailed and reliable indices to evaluate orthodontic treatment outcomes. Objective: To determine the influence of using different types of brackets on treatment outcomes by using ABO Grading System measurement. Methods:Sixty-four posttreatment cast models and panoramic radiographs samples treated with standard Edgewise and preadjusted Roth brackets were collected for the purpose of this research. Inclusion criteria were samples of patients with non-extraction Class I malocclusion, no history of dental trauma, normal number of teeth, and without growth and development disturbances. All samples were evaluated using 8 parameters of ABO Grading system and statistically analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Chi-Square test. Results: The total score was 19.00+12.00 for standard Edgewise bracket, and 15.00+7.00 for preadjusted Roth bracket with no statistically significant differences in the total score among two types of brackets (p=0.149). There were also no significant differences for the 8 parameters of ABO Grading system among those brackets (p>0.05). The highest score was found for buccolingual inclination parameter, and the lowest score was for interproximal contacts. Conclusions: The use of either standard Edgewise or preadjusted Roth brackets have no influence on overall treatment outcomes according to ABO Grading System.

Latar belakang: Terdapat berbagai jenis braket yang tersedia di pasaran. Standar Edgewise dan preadjusted Roth merupakan dua jenis braket yang umum digunakan untuk perawatan ortodonti. Evaluasi hasil perawatan ortodonti sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas perawatan. Grading system dari American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) merupakan salah satu indeks evaluasi hasil perawatan yang paling detail dan dapat diandalkan. Tujuan: Untuk menentukan pengaruh penggunaan jenis braket yang berbeda terhadap hasil perawatan ortodonti yang ditinjau dari pengukuran Grading system ABO. Metode:Sebanyak 64 sampel model studi dan radiografi panoramik setelah perawatan yang dirawat dengan braket standar Edgewise dan preadjusted Roth digunakan pada penelitian ini. Kriteria inklusi meliputi sampel pasien dengan maloklusi Klas I tanpa pencabutan, tanpa riwayat trauma dental, jumlah gigi normal, dan tanpa gangguan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan. Seluruh sampel dievaluasi menggunakan 8 parameter Grading system ABO dan dianalisa secara statistik dengan uji Mann-Whitney dan Chi-Square. Hasil: Skor total untuk braket standar Edgewise adalah 19.00+12.00, sedangkan untuk braket preadjusted Roth adalah 15.00+7.00. Tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik pada skor total dua jenis braket (p=0.149). Berdasarkan penilaian pada 8 parameter Grading System ABO antara dua jenis braket juga tidak ditemukan perbedaan signifikan (p>0.05). Skor tertinggi pada penelitian ini terdapat pada parameter inklinasi bukolingual dan skor terendah pada parameter kontak interproksimal. Kesimpulan: Penggunaan braket standar Edgewise maupun preadjusted Roth tidak berpengaruh pada keseluruhan hasil perawatan berdasarkan Grading System ABO.
