Kajian Minyak Atsiri pada Ekaliptus (Eucalyptus Urophylla) Umur 4 Tahun di PT Toba Pulp Lestari, Tbk

Abstract

Essential oil is one of the non woods forest product that beneficial to the human life . Essential oil can be obtained by distilling the leaves , the branches , or the bark of tree . Almost all plants that produce essetial oil have long been familiar to people , among them is Eucalyptus urophylla . Essential oil industry have been established in Indonesia since the colonial era . Yet , its development has not much changed than other countries with short history of essential oil . Essential oil distillation done by using steaming method . Study shows that essential oil in Eucalyptus urophylla can only be found in the leaves sample than any other samples due to the small amount of rendement . Highest oil rendement from distillation of Eucalyptus urophylla found in the leaves sample is 0.16 % , the branches and the bark sampel is 0,0000001 % . Base on this study can be concluded that essential oil of the four - year - old Eucalyptus urophylla has 45 % cineol contant or 2.64 of its retention time . There for the quality of essential oil of the Eucalyptus urophylla is the first grade . Its spesific gravity is 0.98 , refraction index 1.36 , and its chemical properties is alcohol solvability 1 : 3 .
