| dc.description.abstract | Goal of this research is how to describe your perception of society towards the gold mining area in Batang Toru Forest and to describe your relationship to socio economic factors ( age , education , long living , and income ) with the public perception towards the establishment of the gold mining area in Batang Toru Forest in Napa and Ack Pining Village , Batang Toru District , South Tapanuli Regency . This study was conducted in October and November 2008. This research is done with descriptive method , the level of perception using Likert Scale and the relationship to see socio - economic ( age , education , long living , and income ) to the perception of the local community about the establishment of the gold mining area in Batang Toru Forest using the Spearman Rank correlation . Number of samples taken 80 of the 55 families in Ack Pining and 25 families in the Village of Napa . Collecting data in the primary and secondary research was conducted using questionnaires , interviews , observation , and study literature . Results of research indicate that the people does not yet have sufficient knowledge about the forest . Society also looked at the positive existence of the mining area Batang Toru Forest , because the community is able to increase income , reduce unemployment , although this is felt by some new people . But the infrastructure , environment and culture has not changed significantly . There is a strong relationship between level of education with public perception . There is no strong relationship anatara age , duration of living and income level of public perception | en_US |
