    Abstract
Agarwood twig and leaves are a by-product of agarwood plantations can be developed into medicinal raw materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the Carboximetyl Cellulose (CMC) potential of the agarwood twig and the medicinal potential of agarwood leave extracts, which was formulated on a hydrogel of CMC-Citric Acic (CA)-Polivinyl Alcohol (PVA)-Extractive substance. Twigs were processed to create CMC and characterized. Leaves extract of agarwood was prepared and characterize, phytochemical test, GC-MS test, antioxidant and antimicrobial test. FT-IR, SEM, and XRD tests were used to characterize each stage of the hydrogel preparation CMC-CA-PVA-Extractive substance, as well as the degree of cross-linking and swelling. The results indicated that the CMC of the agarwood twigs could be used to prepare medicinal materials. The chemical compounds in hot water extract and ethanol extract of agarwood leaves have potential as raw materials for wound healing, ethanol extract had antimicrobial properties, and strong antioxidant activity. The CMC-CA-PVA-Agarwood extractive substance hydrogel is optimized with 4% citric acid, 10% PVA, and 5% extractive substance. The hydrogel is antimicrobial against S. aureus bacteria and the released compounds are potentially used as raw materials for wound healing.
