dc.description.abstractIn big cities where public open space is important and necessary, because public open space is a space to complete the needs of the community for comfort, relaxation, and conducting active or passive activities outside the daily activities commonly performed community. According to Project For Public Space (PPS) the quality of public space is successful is the existence of the activity or the person doing the activities in that place, a place to socialize that people can visit it or bring another colleague to be mutually meet. This study aims to identify the activity of visitors, knowing what the dominant activity occurred, and knowing garden landscaping elements. Research carried out in the garden around the Central Bureau of Administration Building University of North Sumatra to collect primary data, by spreading questionnaires, interviews, observation of landscape elements, makes mapping the behavior and activities of visitors, as well as collecting secondary data. From the research that has been done, activities that occur that visitors come to bring a child, brother, or sister who are still children to see the deer, doing sport activities, take pictures in Regional Park, discussion/mentoring, sitting in the park next Building Administration Bureau USU to take advantage of the free wi-fi, and visitors come with friends to do a small celebration at birthday moment. The most activity occurs majority is relax, sitting with friends, or just enjoy the atmosphere of the park. The types of landscape elements used is paving blocks and cement pavement and some trees and plants with its own character. Advice that can be given to the park around the Central Bureau of Administration Building University of North Sumatra and park facilities in the form of additional elements, not only to support the activities of visitors, but also to maintain the existence and preservation of the park.en_US
