Man participation in family planning programs is interesting to be examined
more deeply, because the participation of man determine the sustainability of family
planning programs. One of man participation indicator in family planning is a man
willing to use condoms in sexual intercourse. Participation of men in the use of
condoms in Medan Barat Sub District based on data of BPS Medan 2009 is still low
which is only 7.70%.
This research was a quasi-experimental research with the "pretest and postest
design", The research objective to analyze the effictiveness of mttltistage information
provision in condom promotion on the man. Population in the study were man of
couples of reproductive age (PUS) from 3 villages in Medan Barat Sub District.
Sampling was purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria. Thdnumber
of samples wos 27 people, consisting of 9 people at each stage. Method of data
collection by interview using o questionnaire. Data analyzed was using univariate
and bivariate analysis.
The results showed no dffirence betvveen lcnowledge and attitude on man of
couples of reproducttve age (PUS) in using condom at every stage or in another
explanation, there was an effectiveness on the provision of information at multistages
on kttowledge and attitude of man of couples of reproductive age (PUS) to use
condoms. Then, there was a dffirence between the actions of man of couples of
reproductive age (PUS) tn using condom at every stage or in onother explanation,
there was no effectiveness on the provision of information at multistages on
lcnowledge and attttude of man of couples af reproductive age (PUS) to use condoms.
For another health programs which aimed to change behaviors, then
multistage information provision methods with an interpersonal approach can be
socialized by the Medan Regional Health Ofice to every Public Health in their
Collections
