Rainforest Lodges Kedah is one of the ecotourism in the Protected Forest
area of KPH Region V Aceh which is managed by KTH based on a cooperation
agreement. Ecotourism areas are very important for the community as a source of
medicinal plants, clean water and nature tourism. Medicinal plants have a role in
overcoming various health problems, especially for communities around forest
areas. The tradition of using plants as medicine by the Gayo tribe has long been
used and passed down from generation to generation long before the development
of modern medicines in society. This study aims (i) determine public perceptions
of medicinal plants (ii) conduct an inventory of medicinal plant species in the
Ecotourism area of Rainforest Lodges Kedah (iii) analyze the strategy of medicinal
plant conservation using SWOT. The study was conducted from March to
December 2021. The analysis of the Gayo people's perception of medicinal plants
was classified good. The results of the inventory of medicinal plant species found
31 families, 45 species and 517 individuals of medicinal plants consisting of tree,
palm, shrub, liana, bush and herb habitus. The SWOT analysis obtained values of
1.15 (X axis) and 0.90 (Y axis) and resulted in a strategy in quadrant 1 position.
This strategy shows that Rainforest Lodges Kedah ecotourism can use the best
opportunities to minimize weaknesses and use strengths as capital key to
suppressing threats.
